If your home is new construction, contact a My Hoover Connect representative at 205-739-7311. They will instruct Amwaste to deliver a trash cart to your home. They will also inform you of the days of collection and answer any questions you may have. If you have moved into an existing home, service has already been established at your address. You only need to call if you do not know the days of service or if the bins are damaged or missing.

Crews on the garbage trucks can sometimes gather small piles of limbs but in most cases it is best to inform us. Only debris generated by the homeowner will be collected. It is the responsibility of hired landscapers, tree services, roofers, remodeling companies, etc. to remove any materials/debris generated by their crews.
No. They do not pick up hazardous waste. However, the city does host two annual Household Hazardous Waste Days in April and Sept each year. During this event, Hoover residents are allowed to bring items for disposal that normally are not accepted in their regular trash. Items such as paint, oil, old gas, many types of batteries, pesticides, etc. The dates of this event will be posted on the website as soon as it is finalized each year - usually in March.
Note: If you will bring paint to a solid and the can is completely dry, it can be placed with your regular trash. It must be completely dry with the lid off. You can speed up this process by adding cat litter, sand or sawdust.
There usually are four reasons your bin was not emptied: 1. Not out on time (7:00 AM) 3. Trash bin too heavy to lift 4. Too far from street (no more than 5' from asphalt) 5. Hidden from sight (shrubs, car, mailbox) needs to be seen coming from either end of street
Submit your request through My Hoover Connect. Carts are owned by the garbage company and they are responsible for repairs and for replacing any damaged carts. We will enter a request for new carts or replacement carts for you. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call us at (205) 739-7311 as well and we will assist you in entering a request.
Prior to contacting us for special collection, you will need to have the freon removed by a certified technician. The item must be tagged with a certification of removal. Once it has been tagged, you may contact a My Hoover Connect representative at (205-739-7311), submit a request through My Hoover Connect or email email@example.com with your request and we will enter it for you.

When one of these six holidays falls on a Sunday, there will be no change in your garbage and recycling services. If your service day is on the Holiday, your home will be serviced only once that week.
