Pickup Schedule

All carts (trash and recycle) should be placed at the curb no later than 7:00 AM the day of collection.

The workers on the trucks can not cross the street to gather carts that have been set out after the truck has gone past the home. If you set your cart out late, you will have to wait until your next scheduled pickup date to have it emptied.

Inclement Weather

If wintry precipitation has left the streets with snow and/or ice, Amwaste will pull their trucks until the roads are deemed safe to travel. We ask for your patience during these times. The City of Hoover has many, many miles of roads. It may not be hazardous in your area but it could be in other areas of the city. Our waste provider will take every precaution to protect their drivers and others on the road.

Holidays

Garbage, Trash & Recycle Pickup Services will be delayed on the holidays listed below. Services will resume on your following pick up day usually ending on Saturday because residents have two pick ups a week. Holiday schedule is subject to change due to landfill opening and closing.

Amwaste will not operate on the following holidays:

  • New Years Day
  • Memorial Day
  • 4th of July
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

If your trash day falls on one of these holidays, it will not be made up. Please do not put out your cart until your next regular pick up day.

Examples

  • If your trash is normally picked up on Friday and Christmas Day falls on Friday, your next pick up would be Tuesday the following week.
  • If Christmas Day fell on Wednesday, you will only receive Saturday pick up that week. If your service day is on Saturday, you will receive service again on Wednesday.
