  • The Alabama Department of Senior Services is diligently working to make sure seniors have food and other necessary items. If you need to reach this department please call 1-800-243-5463.
  • The Alabama Department of Labor has taken steps that will expedite certain requirements allowing citizens to get assistance more quickly. Visit their website for more information or to file an unemployment claim.
  • Many area businesses have been impacted by COVID-19, and have downsized employment. If you are looking for employment, many other area businesses are hiring. Please visit websites such as indeed.com, linkedin.com and social media outlets such as Facebook to find employment. Also visit the Alabama Department of Labor’s Job Seeker page.   • Both the IRS and the State of Alabama have extended tax filing deadlines for 2019 returns to July 15, 2020.
  • Childcare is available on a limited basis for critical workers. Please see these resources for more details:
  • Governor Ivey declared a state of emergency in response to COVID-19, thereby allowing the Alabama Department Revenue more flexibility in working with impacted taxpayers. To date, the Department has issued several taxpayer relief orders affecting individuals and businesses.
  • Thursday night, March 19,2020, Hoover Mayor Brocato addressed Hoover residents to inform them of the City’s efforts to keep residents and employees safe during the COVID-19 outbreak.   • Alabama Power has indicated that customers impacted by COVID-19 will not be disconnected. https://www.alabamapower.com/
  • Spire has suspended disconnects and late fees until May 1 for residential and business customers. https://www.spireenergy.com/coronavirus
  • Birmingham Water Works (BWW) is temporarily suspending collections on delinquent accounts to ensure all customers have access to clean water during the pandemic of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19), until further notice. https://www.bwwb.org/coronavirus
